Heyo! I'm Sagan.
MD, MBA, CSCS
I'm a doctor, armed with an MBA and heavily schooled in wine, nutrition, and physical training.
I'm here to help you live your best life, for the long run, in a way that #feelsright.
I earned a B.S. in Neuroscience from NYU, where I worked in the lab of Elizabeth Phelps studying human behavior and neuroeconomics. I then went on to become a doctor at NYU School of Medicine and Stern School of Business, where I earned a combined MD/MBA degree in 5 years with specializations in corporate finance and leadership.
With 10+ years working in highly recognized restaurants in NYC (Hearth Restaurant and Terroir Wine Bar) and St. Paul (WA Frost, Pazzaluna), hospitality is in my blood. I'm certified by the Court of Master Sommeliers and believe strongly in the health benefits (physical and mental) of wine and leading a balanced life with the ones you love.
Nutrition / Physical Health
You know what they say: "Abs are made in the kitchen," and "No workout routine can make up for unhealthy eating." Not only do I have years of experience creating tailored nutrition programs for weight loss and controlling disease, I'm certified as a strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) and personal trainer.
Why I Want To Help You Live Your Best Life
Props to us, our focus on wellness is at an all time high.
Healthy superfoods like matcha and avocados are in everything, carnivores are converting to plant-based nutrition, and "sweatworking" and dry morning rave parties have become the new happy hour. But there's still one serious problem:
Even those with access to superfoods and top-notch healthcare still manage to feel incredibly unwell.
Why? Misinformation about healthy living is out of control. Our healthcare system is a mess. And those with a large Instagram following are now trusted more that those with real knowledge and education.
I'm here because I'm uniquely qualified (in medicine, nutrition, fitness, and even Instagram) to help you be the best version of you, to help you see through the bullshit, and start living your life on purpose in a way that #feelsright.
We're playing the long game, and I promise I'll never refer to your morning coffee as a "treat," last time I checked those were for cute dogs like this one doing yoga.
Understanding of the Greater Whole Through Deep Insight of Intimately Interconnected Pieces
What I'm Offering
The first step is a consultation where we'll take a deep dive into your medical and fitness history, discuss goals, and take baseline body composition index measurements. Together, we'll develop a personal roadmap for hitting objectives and staying on track.
All sessions take place on-location and you get me on text message 24/7 for support.
No fads, no food deprivation (and wine is okay!), and definitely no fiber crackers. Whether you want to shed some weight, increase your athletic performance, bump your energy, impress your doctor, or just eat out in a restaurant without making a scene, we'll use clinically-backed methods to reclaim those good vibes and build healthy habits for the long game.
Train Smarter Not Harder
Fueled by ambition and accomplished by hard work. Wellness isn't given, and it doesn't come in the form of a pill. Get ready to sweat and wake up every day feeling like a badass. And while doing endless burpees might make you sweat, using individualized metrics as a guide to build a training program is more efficient.
- metabolic testing (VO2 max, RMR, AT)
- body composition index and tracking
- tech integration
Food and Wine
Work hard, play hard, right? WRONG. What we don't realize is both of those are on the same side of the spectrum. Prioritizing recovery and stress management comes in many forms, but it's no doubt that a great bottle of wine brings friends together at the table. Take the stress level from 100 down to zero.
- private and group wine tasting/education
- curated dinner parties with award winning NYC chefs
5% of Profits Donated to Helping Fight Childhood Obesity
Every $25 teaches one child how to cook for life.
I've partnered with Common Threads to help our children grow up to be informed, healthy adults. Through their cooking and nutrition programs and curriculum, they help prevent childhood obesity and reverse the trend of generations of non-cookers, while celebrating our cultural differences and the things people all over the world have in common.
At Common Threads, they bring a family-centric, hands-on program model with proven results to kitchens in low-income, urban communities across America. Their unique approach empowers children to eat healthy, make sustainable behavior changes, and celebrate culture through food.
Book a Metabolic Testing Session
Let me break it down: metabolism is the process of your body extracting nutrients from the food you eat and converting them into energy for you to live your daily life.
How well our bodies do this is effected by almost everything, including sleep, stress, workouts, nutrition, genetics, environment, and even your emotional state.
With metabolic testing you'll learn:
- how efficiently your body burns fat for energy
- the max amount of oxygen you can use during a workout (VO2 Max), often considered the best measure of cardiovascular fitness
- a breakdown of heart rate/VO2 training zones and how to decide exercise intensity based on anaerobic threshold
- your resting metabolic rate (RMR), or how many calories your body needs just to survive each day
Metabolic data is essential for optimizing your training, gaining efficiency, and crushing your goals faster. Whether you want to lose weight, or increase your endurance, this information is vital.
Metabolic Testing is included for all clients.
Single sessions and package pricing are available for non-clients.
